Lambi was about to launch a new paper tissue brand for kids - simply put Lambi Kids - and Sami Kelahaara of King had already designed a cute toy-like Lambiz character as a main figure of the brand to represent the more childlike approach in this particular line of products. The idea was also to create more of a designer toy that could be painted, colored and tuned however you want!
Lambiz still needed a little bit of fine tuning and technical planning in 3D before the actual production of toys and other material could start. Since there was also a whole Lambi Kids world waiting to be illustrated and some films on the way, Piñata took up the challenge!
Carefully Sami and Mikko tweaked the character, and Jani modelled the final character in 3D accoring to their drawings. With our drawings and 3d model as a reference, final production of the mould started in China.
Lambi World
While fine tuning of the character was on the way, Mikko designed and drew a layout for the Lambi World, a key illustration to be used on websites, packages and other material. "The idea was to make the world visually more rich and because Lambiz was going to be created as an actual toy, all elements in the illustration should look like they could be real as well! So small seams, little cracks and other details were added to create a feel that there really could be a whole Lambi universe made of plastic and vinyl.", Mikko describes.
Lauri Manninen modeled and lit the Lambi world while Tuomas joined the production with some rough color layouts. Finally two different illustrations were done, one daytime version of the world and one with the sun rising in the morning.
