This collage for Helsingin Sanomat was the first project Brett King worked on at Pinata. "It's quite a task going through hundreds of images of Helsinki and make them all fit toghether.", Brett says. "Me being from New Zealand surely gave it a new twist, too. The creatives of course supplied us with a detailed plan of what elements they wanted to include in the composition. And luckily, I had a bunch of natives to give me advice.", Brett laughs.

One of the main challenges with these type of images is presenting working versions for the client. "I had a pretty clear idea in my head of what the composition would look like.", Brett says. "Still the initial composition often looks flat and uninspired when still working with different images and sizes. Usually it's the finishing touches and colour grading that that really start to bring the final image to life."

"I really love making these compositional images, but I have a tendency to get a bit out of control and cram in a whole load of stuff that really isn't necessary.", Brett continues. "So after we got the brief, I first built a pretty clear basic idea for the image in mind. After being able to create that and add all the details such as birds and wires, I'm really happy with how it turned out."
