Since everything affects everything, even the smallest thing like a gooseberry can make all the difference in the end. With a new film for Veikkaus, director JP Siili shows a chain of events leading to a critical event in a Premier League football game.
Making of Old Trafford
Mika Rantala of Piñata took up the task of post production for the film with the biggest challenge being the stadium. The football players were shot at Finnair Stadium in Helsinki which was turned into Old Trafford of Manchester, both day and night. Jerry Ylilammi built the stadium in 3D and Mika then combined the renderings with the players and the cheering audience multiplied onto the background.
"We had a proper bluescreen setup for keying the players out of the background and compositing them to the 3D stadium.", says Mika. "With one shot the diretor decided to use a practice take without the bluescreen in place and I ended up rotoscoping the 14 running players out of the background." A lot of the action was shot with a groovy pen camera to get the right skewed feel to the perspectives.
