"This was in a way a dream project for me personally.", says Tuomas Korpi. "The pictures were very challenging in a lot of ways but at the same time they were definitely my cup of tea. I got the opportunity to work on a complex space and really planning and designing the compsitions through."
Nuori Suomi Ry was working on an event in front of the Olympic Stadium with several silly Takeshi's Castle-style challenges. Art dircector Juhamatti Murtomäki of SEK & Grey contacted Piñata to create some appealing sales material - not to limit the viewers' imagination, but to feed it. Draft-like concept paintings fit the bill perfectly since it's easy to have a lot of light and emotion in the pictures without worrying too much about the details.
The client wanted four paintings with exciting perspectives, various feelings, lots of colours and light - not to forget good places for the sponsors' logos. We had about a day to work with each painting. "I started with perpective sketches of the basic compositions and quickly continued with the final painting.", says Tuomas. "Once the first one was finished the rest were quite straightforward to do. I had a lot of freedom with the angles, colours and palettes since this time we weren't really creating final ads. I feel it was the best way to work on these and the client really loved the paintings too."
