Burana

Despite the subject matter - or perhaps specifically because of it - there were no pain killers needed to create this neat project. Burana has maintained a very characteristic appearance in their advertising for over a decade and built an iconic status as the number one pain killer in the Finnish market. With three new TV ads advertising agency Reflex wanted to bring the visuals one step further with a bit more quality and feel of material while still staying within the Burana look.

After the brief Mika Rantala created quick animatics for all of the films outlining the general flow and timing of the animation. "Once the animatics had been agreed upon, Jani Karvonen put some finishing touches on the animations and I created the materials, and rendered and composited the films into their final look.", says Mika. "It was a fun, nearly one-man project to create. There's always a certain elevated feeling to get to work with a classic such as Burana. I still sort of miss Beethoven's Für Elise in the soundtrack, though."
