MP09 Playing Cards

Closing up to one year of operations, here is one of our first projects ever, a kind of a Piñata classic if you will. While we were busy founding Piñata we were commissioned by Art Director Riku Luoto of Spark Helsinki to create a set of playing cards for MP 09 motorcycle show. The court cards were designed to represent various genres of motrocycling such as choppers and motocross.

Piñata studio was still only a plan when Tuomas Korpi and Mikko Vormala started working as a team on the cards. "We got a few bike magazines to check out the coolest trends in each of the subjects and then I sketched the line art on paper in my own living room.", says Mikko. "I didn't own a Wacom tablet let alone a Cintiq, and so pencils we're he obvious choice of weapon for me." Once Mikko had the characters down Tuomas scanned the drawings at his apartment and cleaned and coloured them to their final look.
